EVERY DAY ACTIITIES

Fort Bragg is a fairly large town in scale, but still has the feeling of a small quiet town. Everything is spread out with lots of sights to see and things to do. There is the MacKerricher State Park, Skunk Train, Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, Kayaking, Noyo River Tour, Crab Fishing, Horseback Riding, Museums, Tours, Restaurants (the salmon is so fresh). Close by is Mendocino and it’s a coastal community, known for the cliff side trails and beaches of Mendocino Headlands State Park, a museum of local history are in the 19th-century Ford House, and galleries, including those of Mendocino Art Center, and restaurants cluster nearby. North is the dramatic coastline of Russian Gulch State Park and the 1909 Point Cabrillo Light Station, and much more.

HORSEBACK RIDING

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Most biking opportunities are double track and the main haul road is heavily used. Still, you get beautiful views of the river and wildlife, even if you do have to share the scenery. Sinkyone Wilderness State Park, located well north of Fort Bragg, is off limits to bikes.

The Mendocino Coast has some great mountain biking — you just have to know where to look. Two of the most popular areas are the Jackson State Demonstration Forest and the Mendocino Woodlands State Park.

MACKERRICHER STATE PARK

MacKerricher State Park is a state park is located three miles north of Fort Bragg in Mendocino County. It covers nine miles of coastline and contains several types of coastal habitat, incluing beaches, dunes, headlands, coves, wetlands, tide pools, forests, and a freshwater lake. 

Stop by the visitor center to see the skeleton whale bones. The boardwalk is a nice walk to see the tide pools, and to see the seals and starfish. Also a good place to spot whales.
